2012 Mar Alamuchy RockClimbing

2012-Mar-Allamuchy

On 23 thru 25 March 2012, we will be camping at Allamuchy Scout Reservation
To attend, your permission slip must be into the troop no later than 8 March 2012
Any questions, call or email Rob Nickel at the number on the bottom of the permission slip .

There is an additional permission slip for climbing.

Here are some detailed directions to Allamuchy.

Allamuchy Scout Reservation also offers an excellent rock climbing with trained and certified instructors.  Several of the adults attended with their sons a few weekends back and had a lot of fun and some very new experiences.  If you would like to let you son participate in a day of rock climbing, please complete the additional permission slip and return with payment.  The additional fees are necessary for the maintenance of the safety equipment and required safety inspections necessary to ensure a safe climb.

Hello Scouts and Parents,

We have the opportunity to participate in a Climbing and adventure course while at the Mt. Allamuchy Reservation Campout in March.

It is called Project COPE, A program conducted by the Patriots Path Council, BSA.

It features “low course elements, high course elements, plus climbing and rappelling on our climbing towers and natural rock face climbing areas.”

It is a personal development and exploration exercise characterized by the statement “ the focus is on fun filled challenges. Most people find that they can do much more than they initially thought. By the end of the program,  participants learn more than they ever expected. All activities are “Challenge by Choice.” Everyone is  encouraged by staff and team members, but no one is forced to participate in the activities.”

This is a rare opportunity conducted by fully trained and conscientious Scout leaders with a lot of experience.

It is not an adventure park experience but rather, tuned to boys of this age who are encouraged to tackle new challenges and specific skills that they may otherwise possibly go a lifetime without attempting.

I am in!!

I hope that your son is in too!!!

(Disclaimer: I have never repelled or rock climbed before, I hope I don’t exceed the age requirement J.  I have no intentions of tackling Mt. Rainer but I do think that it will make me more confident in handling some of the elevations that I have previously skirted)

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU THINK THAT YOU WILL PARTICIPATE!  Time is short, I would like to know by Friday if possible.

Thanks,
