To Troop 122 Families, Pack 122 Webelos & Families, and guests:

Troop 122 would like to invite you to join our troop to Gettysburg PA 21-23 Apr 2017!  Learn the history behind the Battle of Gettysburg, get to site-see, hike, and have a great weekend with the troop! This is a favorite trip that we do every 2 to 3 years. It is open to all family members . Siblings must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Permission slips are required for all youth including siblings.

Because Gettysburg is just under 4 hours from here, it does require that we leave earlier. We will be meeting at the VFW parking lot at 1pm, with a 1:30pm departure. You can use the Early School Dismissal letter attached. We should get to camp by 5:30, set up tents, eat a bag dinner and then head to downtown Gettysburg for a very family friendly ghost tour. (Gettysburg Ghost Tours – Live or Die tour – check it out on their webpage). This is not scary at all and is suitable for all ages.

On Saturday morning after breakfast we will head to Gettysburg Visitor Center. Recommended for all is the Visitor Center & museum. 1st timers/new scouts will do well on one of the shorter hikes – Johnny Reb Trail or Historic Gettysburg Trail. Older scouts and seasoned hikers can opt for longer Billy Yank Trail if they like. Special patches can be earned by hiking these trails. For those less inclined to hike, the Battlefield Bus tour in an option. It is approximately two and a half hours and goes through the Battlefield with a guide.

After a busy day of activities, we will meet up at General Pickett’s Buffet for a delicious buffet dinner at 5:00pm. Once done, we will walk downtown Gettysburg so the scouts and siblings have a chance to pick up a souvenir from one of the many shops. We should be heading back to camp around 9pm with lights out by 11pm.

Sunday after breakfast we will break camp and head home.
  • Friday lunch – please eat at home prior to departure
  • Friday night – bring your own bag lunch
  • Saturday morning – Troop 122 leaders will make breakfast or bring your own
  • Saturday lunch – bring a bag lunch( mandatory for hikers) or purchase lunch
  • Saturday Dinner – General Pickett’s Buffet
  • Sunday morning - Troop 122 leaders will provide a continental breakfast or bring your own
Please return the order form and permission slip ASAP as we need to reserve our tours. Deadline is 30 Mar 2017.
