VFW Recognizes Scouts

On Tuesday, November 18 the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) District 6 (Monmouth County) recognized 6 scouts and 1 leader from Troop 122 who helped serve at a luncheon for American Gold Star Mothers on 22 September.

American Gold Star Mothers are mothers who have lost a son or daughter in the service of our country.

See Troop Web site for more details.

Wreath Orders Due Already

Wreath orders were due last week.  You need to get them in  so we can place the order.  Only about 12 scouts have turned in order forms.

See Troop website for more details and order form

Service Project

Dr. Andl, the principal of New Monmouth school, has suggested a service project for Troop 122 for the New Monmouth School - our chartering organization.

Dr. Andl suggested the planting of low shrubs around the new digital sign on New Monmouth Road to beautify the location. They should not block the sign or can be maintained to do so.

If anyone in Troop 122 is or has connections with landscapers, suppliers or nurseries please let me know.  The troop could then suggest and price some shrubs for this potential project. If we accept, then we would purchase and plant the shrubs as a service project, as soon as possible.

Reminder:Scouting For Food

Scouting for Food Drive

Troop Committee has decided that all Scouts MUST participate in the Scouting for Food Drive

Dear Scouts,
You were given 10 bags and asked to put them in 10 of your neighbor’s mailboxes along with a short note that you should sign and attach to the bag.
  1. You should wear your Class A uniform when distributing and collecting the bags to let everyone know that you are a Boy Scout and proud of it.
  2. Please put these bags out between Mon, Nov 17 and Wed, Nov 19.
  3. Collect the bags on Sat, Nov 22 between 9 and 10 a.m. If there are no bags outside your neighbor’s front door, please knock and politely ask about the bag. Some people like to hand it to the Scout themselves. If they say that they have no food to donate, then thank them for their time and wish them a good day. Remember that a Scout is always Friendly, Courteous and Kind.
  4. Please deliver your bags to Mr. Clark’s house (see address below), no later than 11 a.m. on Saturday November 22nd and count the number of items that you have collected. This information will be used to complete the report to Monmouth Council.
Thank you to all the Scouts and their parents for helping in the Scouting for Food drive.

Yours in Scouting,

John Clark
