Troop Dues due
Hi all,

For those that have already paid your dues, please disregard

For all others, the 2nd Dues Payment was due 1 1/2 weeks ago at the troop meeting.  To date less than half the boys are paid up.  This makes it very difficult to do the everyday things like book next year's trips and purchase wreaths for the holiday fundraiser.  Sue Butler should NOT have to chase down the dues.  The payment plan was started to help the families not have to pay so much at one time.  If the payments are not made  on time, next year dues will be due at one time at the 2nd troop meeting in September.  PLEASE PAY YOUR DUES.

Yours in Scouting,

Will Purcell
Troop 122 Committee Chairman

Philmont 2014 Contingent Announcement
Date: October 30, 2013

Dear Jesse Ramirez,

Monmouth Council is still recruiting for the Philmont contingent for the summer of 2014. We have 80 scouts registered and have room for more.  Scouts and Venture Crew members must be 14 years of age OR completed 8th grade and be at least 13 years of age prior to departure.

The Philmont Contingent is sixteen days of high adventure in America’s southwest. Philmont is the National Boy Scouts of America Rocky Mountain Scout Ranch (all 214 square miles of it) On June 26, 2014 you will join the Monmouth Council Philmont 2014 Contingent when we leave on the trip to the scout ranch in the rugged wilderness of the Sangre de Cristo range near Cimarron, New Mexico, returning on July 11.

You will experience the thrill of climbing mountains over two miles high. Learn technical rock climbing, archaeological excavation techniques and wilderness survival. You will journey back to the by-gone days of the Old West. You might ride a horse, learn the ways of the mountain men and pan for gold in an icy mountain stream. In addition to our 12-day stay at the Scout Ranch, we anticipate spending a night at the Koshare Indian Kiva in La Junta, Colorado. Other program features may include visits to Pikes Peak on a Cog Railway, whitewater rafting down the Arkansas River plus visiting the Royal Gorge Bridge and Villa Philmont.

Philmont 2014
Monmouth Council will send 10 crews to Philmont in 2014.  One hundred and twelve (112) scouts and adult advisors will leave for Philmont on June 26, 2012.  The crews will arrive at Philmont on June 29 and depart on July 11.

Registration is still in progress at Monmouth Council Headquarters.  A notarized Scout registration form can be submitted to council along payments to date.  The deposit will be applied to Philmont 2014 payment.  Forms can be downloaded from the webpage: http://monmouthbsa.org/Philmont

As will all Philmont treks, participants must demonstrate their ability to meet the physical and mental demands placed on every individual. An important part of the preparation for participants will be demonstrating his/her ability to work with a team, called a crew.

Feel free to contact me at drewkimberlin@optonline.net or call at 732.996.6750 should you have any questions regarding Philmont and/or the registration process.

Yours in Scouting,

Drew Kimberlin
