Shawnee's 24th Annual Scout & Family Ski Weekend

This Sunday is a Scout Weekend at Shawnee Ski Resort in the Poconos. If anyone is interested in going skiing at Shawnee this weekend, call or email me Rob Nickel at: doublenickel10@gmail.com or (908) 601-0654. Also, I need at least one other leader or parent to go along on the trip.

I ask that any Scouts and parents meet me after the meeting Thursday (or reach out to me if they are going to miss the meeting) when we will nail down attendance and driving.

There will be discounted Scout Weekend rates that can be use by scouts and their immediate family members. See details on the website

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser and Honorarium

Hi all,

On Saturday, March 8th, 2014 at 6 pm at VFW 2179, we will be having a spaghetti dinner. The purpose of this dinner is twofold. The first is as a fundraiser for the troop and the second is to honor Vincent "Grumpy" Heller. Grumpy has given over 40 years to scouting in the Middletown area, to the Twin Lights District and to Monmouth Council. He has been a den leader, scoutmaster, assistant scoutmaster, camp builder and staff member at Quail Hill and Forestburg. Most recently, he worked as the inspector and starter at the Trail of the Pioneers and as a Unit Commissioner. His health has caused him to dial back his scouting activities and Jesse and I thought it would be a good time to honor him, while he can still appreciate it.

As for the fundraiser, tickets are $6 and kids 10 and under eat free. Dinner includes salad, spaghetti and meatballs, beverages and dessert. We would like each family to purchase 5 tickets. Everyone is welcome. Tickets are available now (732-207-0896) until the troop meeting Thursday night. Tickets need to be bought before Thursday night so we have an accurate headcount for Saturday.

A flier is on the troop web site.

Any donations of thin spaghetti or sauce is greatly appreciated. Of course, volunteers are welcome in the kitchen and serving also.

Thank you in advance for your participation.

Yours in Scouting,

Will Purcell

Model Rocket Launch at Camp Delmont

We will be able to launch rockets at Camp Delmont - weather permitting. If Scouts are interested they should bring their pre-built rockets and motors with them. If you do not have time to build any rockets , you can purchase RTF (ready to fly) rockets which are already pre-built from either Michaels or Hobby Masters in Red Bank.
