Maker Faire New York City

If you are a STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) loving scout, there are endless interesting things to look at, do and with which to get engaged at the Maker Faire in NYC

What is a the Maker Faire?

Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these “makers” come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned. Learn more

Merit Badge Make-up Day

Merit Badge Make up Day will be held Sat, 20 Aug, 9am - 1pm at Quail Hill Scout Reservation. It is being offered for all Boy Scouts who need to complete merit badges not finished at summer camp. Scouts can complete their requirements and come to Merit Badge Day to have it signed off and finish what they need to demonstrate at camp for completion. Please register in advance using Tentaroo.

You must have your Blue Card with you and be prepared when you arrive. You must also report to your Scoutmaster that you are attending this event.

We are in need of Counselors to be on hand this day to accommodate the hundreds of Scouts expected. If you are available to help, please sign up on Tentaroo for the Merit Badge you are registered to council.

I recently received a request from an organization looking for some volunteers. If you would share with your units, it would be appreciated. Volunteers aged 16 or older are needed. Thank you.

Subject: Volunteers Needed to help a child with a disability learn to ride a bike!

Hello Ms. Weiss,

I was given your name by the mom of a Cub Scout who thought you might be able to help our organization. I am the camp director for iCan Bike Lincroft, a five day camp designed to teach kids with disabilities how to ride a two wheeled bike independently. We are in need of volunteers 16 and older to assist our riders. This will be our fifth year of camp, held at Brookdale Community College August 15-19. Our volunteers find this experience incredibly rewarding, even life changing. If you would be willing to share our information with troop leaders in Monmouth County, please contact me for all the details and forms.

I would really appreciate any help you might be able to provide. Thank you.
